Girls, more than women or boys, lack of access to financial capital and have limited opportunities to gain education, knowledge and skills that can lead to economic advancement. Inadequate policy frameworks and inadequate gender norms also often create barriers to girls’ economic advancement. The factors that contribute to adolescent girls’ economic empowerment examine three main approach financial employment, life-skills and social support strategies.
For a sound financial strategy, it is very important to link workforce development and employment strategies with market needs and opportunities. We recommend that programmes offering vocational training and employment opportunities should include there initiatives to match market requirements and opportunities. The approach not only requires designing a quality training process that builds girls’ technical and soft skills, but also enlists the commitment of employers to hire participants.
Providing vocational training/ skill development training through reputed Central Government agencies like NSDC, NCVT, NIOS, NCPUL and having authorized vocational study centre at SOFIA, alike computer training, cutting and tailoring, dress designing, soft skill training, handicraft, jute work, mobile repairing, and trained more than 700 girls and women in NSDC star scheme and got the scholarship up to Rs. 10,000/- each in skill development training in different skill sectors from National skill development corporation.
